Yeah, you read that correctly! This is not an article on Bug Out Bags, Food Storage, Alternative Power, Firearms or Gardening. This is an article on Reading Comprehension and what I see as a lack of it.
I don’t know if it is a result of our fast-paced lives or that we have become accustomed to bite sized pieces of information in the form of one-liners, puff news articles, Facebook, that we have become visual learners or whatever. But I have noticed that many people don’t read for comprehension anymore. They scan, read the headlines, comment, [...]
“What people do, quite naturally, is if it’s work, they try to figure out how to do less. And if it’s art, we try to figure out how to do more.” – Seth Godin

Mainstream media are finally starting to tell the truth about the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan, and its potential to cause mass evacuations on the West coast due to radiation reaching across the Pacific. Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve announced it will continue QE3 (aka printing money out of thin air) indefinitely, a policy that will ultimately destroy international confidence in U.S. Treasurys. This will lead to natural market corrections, which entail sharp hikes in interest rates, higher taxes to cover the bill and, ultimately, destruction of the U.S. dollar. There’s not enough space in this article to address all the [...]
Todd’s Note: This is a guest post by Troy Brooks. Troy discusses some helpful information on survival caches. After you read the article, please feel free to discuss your thoughts in the comments.
This is the first of a series of articles about caching. Some consider it as the third most important tool a Survivalist or Prepper has. The first being knowledge of how to survive under any circumstance, the second is being in good enough physical condition to survive under any circumstance.
We’ll start with the Home Cache. The Home Cache is a supply of food and tools in [...]
