Hi Aunt Sally,

How are you?  It’s been so long since I’ve talked to you.  I think the last time was at the reunion at my parents place a year ago.  I had such a good time listening to all the old family stories.  I hope we get to do it again soon.

Scott was switching the channels last night and started watching a show about preppers.  One of the ladies on the show was canning her own vegetables.  I thought about the canned peaches you took to the reunion.  Those were the best peaches I have ever tasted.  You need to teach me your recipe.  I guess you can teach me how to can while you’re at it. 😉

Well I hope Uncle Joe is doing well.  Give him my best.  Talk to you soon.

Love,

Julie.

Julie,

I was so excited to see your email in my inbox.  I think about the reunion often and it brings a smile to my face.  As I get older, I tend to treasure those times!

Canning isn’t really that hard.  What’s funny is that in the past, everyone used to do it.  Now, it seems like people are rediscovering it for the first time.  I’m glad for that because many are taking responsibility for their own food and trying to eat healthy.  Besides, if you do it correctly, canning can save you money.

There really isn’t a recipe to the peaches.  You’ll be surprised how easy it is!

I would love to visit and show you how to can.  But again, it’s not really that hard.  I use an All American canner, it will probably out last me and it doesn’t require replacement gaskets to make a good seal.  If you think you might want to try it, here are a few “how to” articles that I think are really good.

If you would like to see a video on how to can, this is a good one to watch – How to Use a Pressure Canner.

Also, remember that I’m just a call away.  So, if you want to try it, I can walk you through on the phone.

Stay safe Julie, the older I get, the crazier this world is becoming.  Give my best to Scott.

I love you.

Aunt Sally
