CONFLICTED SURVIVAL GAME:
BEFORE THE SHTF!
Conflicted is a Survival Game. Each card in the deck has a scenario that will stretch how you would respond in an SHTF situation. What would you do? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below!
SCENARIO – Your survival group of 8 is isolated in the wilderness and has been surviving quite well. You are aware that there are other survival groups within a 5 mile radius of you.
The first group consists of 18 people that are in the same situation that you are in, and the other group is a small mountain community of 50 that are struggling but holding on.
These two groups are at odds with each other and choosing one means siding against the other. You are thinking about establishing an alliance with these groups.
Which group would you choose first and how would you establish a relationship for mutual benefit.

Start bartering a bit with each group and assess.
Find some common ground between the two groups.
Try to negotiate some sort of detente between the two groups.
“The Art of the Deal” Donald John Trump…
I would put off choosing as long as I could. After all, we are making it. Wait and see how it shakes down. Things change.
We don’t really know what the conflict is about. I wonder if the larger group that is struggling is the aggressor. WHY are they struggling when the other groups seem to be getting by ??
If I had to choose right now , I would choose the smaller group. They seem to have it on the right track.
That would be 26 to 50 if it came to that. 26 that are on top of their game against 50 that have major issues ?
I`ll go with the ones that seem to know what they are doing .
I would need to know more about the conflict to make a decision. It could be that the smaller group that is doing well has been doing things at the larger groups expense. OR it could be that the larger group has a lot of opportunities but are not working hard or smart. I also think I would try and see if I could talk to both sides and see if an agreement could be made.
I agree with Phred in that if I had to choose I would be inclined to go with the group that knows what they are doing (as long as they were on good moral ground).
I`m gonna go a little deeper into this .
With all due respect to Rick… He mentioned bartering.
In a total collapse, Stuff Hit The Fan. Which is what most of these scenario portray.
I , myself, do not plan to barter.
I have spent the last 12 years and ALOT of money prepping. Tens of thousands of dollars. I study and read about the prepping mindset.
I have come to the conclusion that bartering is a very bad idea.
I think you would all agree that being the grey man is most important. Once you offer to barter , you have lost your grey man status. Period.
I mean no disrespect to Rick. I just want you to really think about this ahead of time.
I tend to go with Phred and Chip at least partially. Do either or both parties know about our group? If not I want to observe them and try to find out as much as possible about each group. As Phred says be the gray man, out of sight out of mind. What kind of leadership does each group have? How many skills (doctor, mechanic, electrician, carpenter, bush crafter, etc.) does each group have? Are either or both missing some skills? How about equipment, tools, weapons, supplies, teachers in each group. Does either or both hold church services? Is one group attacking the other, both groups attacking each other or there are only verbal confrontations? Knowledge is king. Our group is badly outnumbered by both groups. Do we even want to join either group and why. Does either one have anything of benefit to our group? Can we trade or barter (even mountain men and explorers did) with either or both groups? Sooner or later everyone needs something so never say never. In the worst case our group might just move out of this area. In the best case we can trade with both groups and later join one or the other if we decide to.
Is there really a need to take a side right now? It depends on the circumstances…
My preference would be to be Switzerland – fiercely neutral, yet able to defend ourselves – for as long as possible. Problem is our group is much smaller than the other two groups. Fortunately, it sounds like we have our act together and are doing well. As long as that was the case, I’d stick with being neutral.
