CONFLICTED SURVIVAL GAME:
BEFORE THE SHTF!
Conflicted is a Survival Game. Each card in the deck has a scenario that will stretch how you would respond in an SHTF situation. What would you do? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below!
SCENARIO – You and your best friend leave your families at the retreat and go investigate an early detection warning on the outskirts of your property. You have a negligent discharge and a .308 round goes through your friend’s head, exploding on exit.
Do you tell your best friend’s wife and kids that you killed him, or do you create a story about getting ambushed? Why do you choose the decision you make?

Wow. These scenarios are crazy, and hard. I love having to think through these.
Even though it would be hard, I think its best to tell the truth. I think if you told them it was an ambush, it would raise the level of fear, anxiety etc. and could come back to haunt you. If the lie is discovered things would be a lot worse.
A negligent discharge? There are too many things wrong here. Every gun owner should know and practice gun safety. Never point a weapon at anyone or anything unless you intend on shooting same. The weapon must be on safe until you are ready to pull the trigger. You never have your finger on the trigger until your target is lined up in your sights at which time the weapon is put in the firing condition and finally the finger on the trigger. This person should not have had any weapon in his possession! That being said honesty and hopefully regret would demand that he own up to his part in this tragedy.
I agree, always tell the truth, lies will get you even more trouble.
I would have to tell the truth. That is what God would expect me to do.
Unless this was a friendly fire accident while actually engaged in combat, my finger would NOT have been on the trigger and the safety would have been on. I would tell the truth, tell them how terrible I felt and how much I would miss him, and tear that weapon apart to discover how the negligent discharge occurred.
If this indeed happened the hardest person to explain this to would be myself!
Does the group need to continue together? Do you feel an obligation to take care of the family of your friend? There are no courts or liability insurance. There is just you. As probably happens in war, make the deceased a hero.
I don’t think you can use the ambush story. There should be a fire fight and shells expended by different guns oif a fire fight went down. I might be tempted to use a white lie (technically still a lie) and say I slipped on rough terrain or my friend accidentally caused thevdischarge when he fell into me. Express my deepest regrets, not wanting his wife vengeful or thinking it wasn’t an accident..
