Conflicted: – Past Catches Up With You – What Would You Do?

Conflicted Survival Game:

Conflicted is a Survival Game.  Each card in the deck has a scenario that will stretch how you would respond in an SHTF situation.  What would you do?  Leave your thoughts in the comment section below!

SCENARIO – Your group has managed to survive a catastrophic event, and in fact you are thriving.  The group has many individuals with essential talents that have helped the group be successful.

However, one day your only gunsmith/blacksmith lets slip that he was once convicted of child molestation.  He has never given the group any hint of his past until now, and has in fact been a core and valued member of the group.

Do you forget his past and hope that his tendencies don’t emerge again, or do you expel him from the group and lose his skill set?

I am a new dude. The old dude would say that death is the only cure for child molestation. Now my answer is vengeance is mine says the Lord. He also says its better to have a millstone hung around his neck (Millstone = 3000 LBS) and tossed into the sea. Don’t jack with His kids. Doug<

i wouldn’t allow this man near my grandkids which would mean he would have to go. someone should have been learning his job, someone will have to now. but if you put him out with no where to go he becomes another problem, now he would be on the prowl while you think you have taken care of the problem.

The rehab rate on this behavior is Very low. I think you could do without a gunsmith.
Make it very clear that if he came back to cause problems, he would be endangering his own life.
    Hard times… Hard choices.

Pedophiles are in every profession and remain undetected in every walk of life until they are caught, their objective is to gain trust in order to access to their prey, this one has gained your trust make sure that this did not allow him access.
If the situation is contained and he is a useful member of your group by all means make use of his skills but keep him under close scrutiny or your group will most certainly regret it, if you discover that he has already transgressed euthanasia him, i.e., that is, do not pass him on to another unsuspecting group. If he’s essential to the group’s success, he may be worth making some adaptations.

Make everyone aware of his past so they make appropriate decisions. (e.g. he’s never unsupervised.) Pervs seek privacy with their victims. He gets no such privacy.

Per Mark’s comment, yes, cross-train someone else for the essential job. This probably applies to all essential jobs. One is none, as they say.

Sins within a group pose serious problems. A lecherous leader, an embezzling treasurer, a food thief, a habitual sloth. If you simply killed or kicked out the sinful, you’d have a pretty small group.

NOT defending this crime or the POS that commit them …

but verify what exactly put him into that category – there’s 18 year old guys that get convicted for screwing their 16 year old girlfriend …

the state releases these guys to live among us – supposedly isolated from child locations and activities …. I’d give that a try before tossing him out and losing a valuable asset …

How many children are in your group? How many children are around someone who repairs your weapons? Are any of those children of the age this man prefers?

Since I have NO CLUE how to repair my weapon I would supervise the children…which should be done in all situations regardless after the SHTF because they are going to be put in situations that they have no awareness of from before the SHTF.

And like someone said before, talk with him to find out WHY he was considered a sexual predator. In NY if you have “sexual contact” with someone more than 2 years younger than yourself (before you are both over 18) you are a sexual predator and put on the list….so a 16 year old with his 14 year old girl friend who touches her boobies can be charged.
