Could You Use A Virtual Angel?

Everyone could benefit from a guardian angel.  But if you don’t have a connection with the Man Above, you might have to settle for the next best thing; a virtual angel.  And what if this virtual angel contacted your loved ones if something bad happened, like you were in an accident and unconscious and no one knew where you were.

I would like to point out two web based applications that can perform this task for you.  And the best thing is that they both are FREE.

Emergency Link provides you with plastic wallet cards and key ring cards that link to your account.  If you were to get into an accident and were unresponsive, first responders or emergency room doctors could call the 24 hour Emergency Link line and find out important medical information about you like: if you were a diabetic, allergic to medicine, blood type, etc…  But most importantly, they would contact your family members to let them know where you are.

One positive side to this is that you set this service up once and you are good to go.  Emergency Link has iphone and androids apps as well.

How It Works

Another service that I would like to tell you about is Alert Someone.  This service is a little less known and is more geared towards those that might be traveling, regardless of how long the trip might be.  The idea is that you submit your plans and emergency contact information.  If you don’t check-in before a certain time, it sends an email alert to your emergency contact.

Thinking that something can go wrong is absent from a lot of our thinking.  We don’t like to think about that we or a loved one might get into an accident and become unconscious.  We don’t like to think that we could become lost and not make it to our destination.  With these online services, that worry can be mitigated as you put some safety nets in place.  If you don’t think this is for you, at least take a moment to checkout these websites before you move on.
